Compassionate allowances for Social Security disability benefits

Social Security disability (SSD) benefits can be difficult to obtain but are also tremendously important for disabled individuals in Mississippi, which is why it is important to be familiar with the ways to qualify for benefits. Eligibility for Social Security disability benefits is based on several factors. One, a person must have a medical condition that is severe enough that it prevents the disabled individual from working. Two, the applicant must have the necessary work history to qualify for benefits.

Applications for Social Security disability (SSD) benefits are sometimes initially denied, so understanding how to prepare the strongest application possible for disability benefits is helpful. Eligibility for Social Security disability can be based on suffering from a medical condition that is on the Social Security Administration's list of impairments or by submitting medical records to demonstrate that the applicant suffers from a medical condition that prevents them from working and engaging in gainful activity. Whether the medical condition the disabled individual suffers from is on the list or not, they will be required to submit medical records to demonstrate the medical condition they suffer from.

The Social Security Administration maintains a Compassionate Allowances list of medical conditions that are considered severe enough that they automatically qualify as a disability. Medical conditions on the Compassionate Allowances list are considered to meet the Social Security Administration's standards for disability by the definition of the ailment itself. Some of the medical conditions on the list include certain types of cancer, adult brain disorders and many rare disorders that affect children. Suffering from a medical condition the Compassionate Allowances list can expedite the processing of the disabled individual's claim for benefits.

One of the purposes of the Compassionate Allowances list maintained by the SSA is to ensure that disabled individuals who meet the definition of disability, and are most in need of disability benefits, can receive benefits in a timely manner. Because the process of applying for SSD benefits can be complex, challenging and time consuming, disabled individuals should be familiar with the different options to help them qualify for the benefits they need.
