The nature of workplace injuries and what workers can do

On Behalf of Kyle Robertson, PLLC | Oct 3, 2019 | work injuries |

Workplace injuries can mean devastation for injured workers and their families who can suffer physically, financially and emotionally as a result. Because of this unfortunate reality, workers suffering from work injuries should be familiar with the kinds of injuries they may suffer and what they can do about it if they have been injured on the job.

Injured workers can face a range of injuries spanning from contusions, cuts and broken bones to permanently disabling injuries that may be suffered on the job. Injured workers may suffer a traumatic brain injury on the job; spinal cord injuries and paralysis including paraplegia and quadriplegia on the job; back and neck injuries on the job; and burns and other injuries on the job as well. Each of these different types of workplace injuries can change the injured worker’s life forever.

A worker who is unable to work because of a workplace injury they have suffered may be able to seek workers’ compensation benefits to help them with their workplace injury including their medical expenses, lost wages and more. They may benefit from guidance throughout the workers’ compensation application process and the appeals process, as well, if needed. Workers’ compensation benefits can be essential for the injured worker and their family.

Whether the injured worker has suffered a debilitating injury all at once or as the consequences of their life on the job that has taken its toll, it is important that they are familiar with the different resources in Mississippi that can help them with their needs as they struggle to cope with the consequences of a workplace injury.
